As a medical herbalist, botanist, plant scientist and educator I offer guided walks through the stunning landscape of Derrynane National Historic Park.

 

Join me for a gentle stroll through the ancient oak woodlands of Saint Fionán, from whom Derrynane has taken its name, over rolling sand dunes and along the spectacular white sand beachwith its turquoise coloured water.

 

During the walks you will discover some of the history, folklore and forgotten medical benefits of the vast array of plants that thrive in this unique environment. Many of these plants would undoubtedly have played an integral role in the struggle for survival of the monks based both on Skellig Michael and dotted along the Skellig coast in this mystical corner of the Wild Atlantic Way.
